Believe it or not, one of our website visitors suggested that I add this information. She wanted to contribute to our ministry, and pointed out that our website didn't explain how someone could do that. Shame on me!
Here's how you can help our ministry:
Pray
The first one is easy, and the most effective: You can pray for us! We wouldn't be in this line of work if we didn't believe God was in control and that He delights in answering prayer. Our prayer letters and website have specific requests you can pray for, but here are some general ones that will always be helpful:
- Pray that God will open doors of opportunity for us on the mission field. Ask Him to prepare the hearts of people we will meet and to whom we will minister.
- Pray for our safety. Just among the BBFI missionaries in Brazil, I know of three recent robberies, two of which involved hostage-taking. Brazil is not the Middle East or Colombia, but it has its own problems--pray that God keeps us safe to minister for Him.
- Pray for our children. As an missionary kid myself, I know the transitions, changes, and difficulties that accompany the blessing of a multi-cultural, ministry-centered upbringing. Our kids will have the opportunity of a lifetime, but they have to have the right hearts to accept it.
- Pray for Ann Janel. She has a whole language and culture to learn while juggling the roles of wife, mother, and minister of the Gospel.
- Stay informed through our website and/or prayer letters, to know what other things you can help us with by praying.
Contribute
The next way you can help us is also easy, but does involve money: You can send a one-time contribution! While our continued ministry in Brazil depends on the faithful monthly support of individuals and churches, there have been times that a one time gift from an unexpected source was the answer to prayer we were waiting on. These gifts can be sent in our name to:
Patrick McClure
c/o Baptist Bible Fellowship International
P.O. Box 191
Springfield, MO 65801
We receive 100% of every dollar sent to us. If you are giving toward a specific project, just designate that on the memo line of your check and the Mission Office Staff will make sure it is put in the right place.
The Mission Office has recently added a feature to their website that allows you to donate online. Visit this link, look us up by country or last name, then follow their instructions to complete the donation.
Invest
Finally, the long-term commitment: You can support us on a regular basis. Our ministry is funded entirely by the regular support of individuals and churches. While most of our support is from churches that commit to faithfully supporting us on a monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly basis, we also have a number of individuals that have decided to partner with us as well. This is not a pledge: no one will call you and ask you where this month's check is. It isn't even a commitment between you and our family--I'm certainly not going to call you about it either. If you think this option is for you, then simply begin sending regular contributions to the address above.
So, whether you are a pastor or an individual reading this, please take a moment to prayerfully consider what you can do to help our family reach Brazilians for Christ.
And remember, it was one of our readers who asked me to include this!
